Already saddled with the twin burdens of drought and debt, when small-time rancher Dan Evans (Van Heflin) needs $200 for a new well, an answer to his problem materializes in escaped outlaw Ben Wade (Glenn Ford). Accepting the job that no one else wants, Evans tracks down Wade and prepares to deliver him to an Arizona prison. Complications arise when Wade's offer of $10,000 to let him go free has the rancher's wife begging her husband to take the money. Yet, the completion of his sworn duty becomes a matter of principle for Evans as he fights back repeated attacks by Wade's murderous henchmen to see that the outlaw is on the 3:10 train to Yuma

Drawing on a rich array of archive material, including their major works such as The Life and Death of Colonel Blimp, Black Narcissus and The Red Shoes, Scorsese explores the collaboration between the quintessentially English Powell and the Hungarian Pressburger and how their partnership had a major influence on his own body of work, including such classics as Taxi Driver and Raging Bull.

This smashing little film comes from Wes Anderson, one of the great talents of contemporary American film-making. It is the story of a couple of subteen misfits who fall in love and decide to go off alone on an expedition to find peace and romance on their New England Island. They do not bargain for the hurricane which is fast approaching nor the metaphorical storm their disappearance causes in the small community where they live.

They need its spring water for growing their flowers, so are dismayed to hear the man who has inherited it is moving in. They block up the spring and watch as their new neighbour tries to keep his crops watered from wells far afield through the hot summer. Though they see his desperate efforts are breaking his health and his wife and daughter's hearts they think only of getting the water.
