Summary of Performances: Gobbess by Naomi Wood A riotous and heartwarming spoken word whirlwind, Gobbess is a one-creature show bursting with humour, rage, and resilience. It’s a raw and playful exploration of creativity, queerness, self-expression, and the beautifully chaotic mess of being alive. The Lodger by Dora Colquhon A poignant and timely look at the housing crisis, The Lodger dives into the struggle of finding, and defining, home in an unpredictable world. Thought -provoking, urgent, and deeply human, this show questions what it truly means to belong. Fallen Bodies by Black Tern Arts A razor-sharp comedy from Writer/Performer Oliver Turner and Director Shannon Black, Fallen Bodies reimagines the very first origin story of the human race. Witty, inventive, and full of surprises, it’s a fresh take on how it all began. A Noise Annoys by Jude Simpson A playful explosion of poetry, rhythm, and sound, A Noise Annoys is a sensory delight packed with sharp wordplay, unexpected noises, and joyful audience interaction. Jude Simpson takes you on a mind-bending journey through the music of language and the language of music. The Rehearsal by Rachael Maltby Built entirely from the Queen Mab speech in Romeo and Juliet, The Rehearsal is a hypnotic exploration of performance itself. As the actor wrestles with text, movement, and meaning, we witness the raw, fascinating process of bringing words to life. Snakes of the Throne by Hereford College of Arts Born from an exciting university collaboration, Snakes of the Throne is a bold new musical in the making. Blending original songs, script, and storytelling, this 20-minute showcase is just the beginning of something special. Content warning: occasional swearing Hosted in the Nell Gwynne Studio.

Fairytales, Fables & Other Assorted Nonsense

Little Red Riding Hood has taken control of the fairy tale woods and the once sweet girl now rules with an iron fist and a mob of incompetent wolves. Everything changes when Susan, our accidental hero, finds herself transported into this world of tax collecting big bad wolves, radical talking pigs, and smorgasbords of poisoned fruits. If she starts a revolution whilst trying to get home, well that can’t hurt anyone, can it? Ridiculous mishaps, outlandish love stories and a barnyard full of animals that won’t stop talking await in this riotous, rebellious comedy.

Counter’s Creek is an acoustic folk band that play original music inspired by the folk music of the British Isles and beyond. Expect foot-tapping jigs and reels, heartfelt songs and 4-part harmony, dance grooves from Eastern Europe and West Africa and a whole lot more… An evening of exciting, uplifting entertainment awaits; virtuoso performances delivered by engaging and witty musicians who convey their passion for contemporary British and Irish folk music in their playing and encourage the audience to join them in sea shanties and 4- part harmony! In a provocative dramatic interpretation, the audience shares Woolf’s frustrations and dreams as we are led on an intimate journey from study, lecture hall, British Museum and Oxbridge. A powerful, humane and often funny exploration of an extraordinary woman.

Inspired by the wonder of the natural world, 'The Music of Trees' weaves together storytelling, woodland folklore and mythology with a suite of original compositions featuring Geoff's signature blend of classical, jazz, Celtic and Spanish influences. A master of the acoustic guitar with an intricate, richly harmonic style, Geoff has performed to audiences across the UK and Europe, at venues ranging from Buckingham Palace and The House of Commons to Glastonbury Festival. Victoria Wood meets Pavarotti Nicola Mills has turned opera on its head in this funny and inspiring show. She combines her down-to-earth Northern roots with singing ‘opera’ in this truly unique show, not to be missed. Nicola will amaze you with her voice and stories of working-class life, to singing in some of Europe’s finest opera houses, to then taking opera to the streets. This is the story of how Opera for the People was born. And it’s not just opera! Choose what is performed from Nicola’s Song Menu (from Mozart to musicals, to Elvis). It’s like nothing you’ve seen before! Taking the ‘posh’ out of opera.

Small actions can make a big difference in the world… The Zoo That Comes To You follows the efforts of two wildlife enthusiasts who provide respite, care or a temporary home to those in need. They now have a sanctuary full of animals, however, no-one has come to visit their zoo. So everybody - animals and humans alike - have decided it is time to get out, see the world, and bring the zoo, to you! Come and meet this eclectic group of charming yet cheeky animals, as they discuss their life experiences and the challenges they face. These chatty animals have a lot of stories to tell and want to inspire people of all ages to take action.

Stories in the dust
Stories in the Dust

The sun beats down on two travellers, journeying across a mysterious land in a contraption they've built themselves. They sing, play games, and tell stories inspired by a collection of precious things they've gathered from a time gone by. With live music and puppetry, Stories in the Dust is a funny, heartfelt and hopeful eco-fable that takes you to another world. A world where an ancient book guides your way, a drop of rain changes everything and a mighty lion holds its secrets in an old clay pot. Will our intrepid explorers make it? Tāla Tarang Rhythm Waves Harp and Tabla Duo

Tāla Tarang (meaning ‘rhythm waves’) is a sonic adventure between the Indian tabla and Western harp. This vibrant and dynamic pairing of tabla maestro Mendi Singh and harp virtuoso Eleanor Turner creates an electrifying fusion of rhythmic grooves and intricate melodies that leaves audiences spellbound. From intimate jazz clubs to grand concert halls, Tāla Tarang has graced stages from Birmingham to Barcelona, earning a dedicated following along the way. Tāla Tarang shine especially brightly in their breathtaking improvisations and original compositions; displaying the chemistry that has blossomed over the ten years they have written, performed and recorded music together.

Developed with and directed by internationally acclaimed Katharina Reinthaller, and produced by Worklight Theatre, It's the Economy Stupid is a bold new show from the Fringe First winning creators of Labels and Fanboy.
