Thelma (2024) (12a)

People left with a smile on their faces and generally had enjoyed the entertainment value. A story that highlighted what could happen to the people who face scammers, a very indecent bunch of humanity.

An excellent film night film. It is a slow build with some great one liners. The lead actress, June Squib, playing Thelma, is actually 94 and she has been an actress in the US for most of her life. There is a lovely emotional touch at the end when the film cuts to the real Thelma who is 103. A lovely film. Only downside, as with many american films, is that the dialogue at times is quite muffled.

This clever comedy went down well with many of audience but some found the portrayal of older age challenging.

Bit of a Marmite film. A few hated it but most of the audience enjoyed the film. Music was too loud but otherwise the soundtrack was ok.

Some in the audience said that it was a bit slow especially at the start but the film's subject was about an old person living a life so the pace of the film reflected that. We got a cheer from some at the satisfying ending.

Good film. Funny but sad.

A good afternoon film- audience enjoyed it - Inspiring story

One of our audience members described it as a horrible film, somebody else commented, independently, that it was a great choice. Generally the audience liked it, there were plenty of laughs at the humour, but yes there were poignant bits and yes probably a bit close to home for some. The story line is somewhat far fetched but it was an entertaining film nonetheless.
