Ascension Dance Company is back with another heart-warming performance of Early Weaves. Meet Willow and Weave and watch as they inspire each other to dive deep into their own sense of imagination. See the possibilities they unpick and if you and your young person can discover something new from their creativity. Two strangers meet, unsure at first. But with a twist of willow and a sprinkle of imagination, they create magic together! Join them on this playful journey and discover the joy of creativity. Let your creativity soar! A new family Christmas show for all ages by Kate Bramley Polaris is a travelling bear and he is on the longest journey of his life, to find the great Mr. Hat-In-Burrow, a renowned human naturalist who- legend says- has the key to saving the Polar world. When he arrives unexpectedly by an iceberg in a small village in the North of England, he doesn’t have the warm welcome he expected! 1868. Discharged from the army, Morten scrapes a living on the edge of the Swedish forest. Suddenly he begins to suffer nightmares and mysterious visits as he sleeps. He’s told he is plagued by a Mara - a folkloric figure who visits another at night. To free himself, he must discover the Mara's identity. But who is it? By Garlic Theatre Was it a dream or did I hear a talking bean? Jack lives on a small farm with his mum and very little to eat. He likes to talk to the birds, his cow and anyone who will listen. Imagine his surprise when he swops his cow for some magic beans and starts to hear a whispering in the breeze and a giant rumble in the sky … Charming and inventive with plenty of interaction, an enormous beanstalk, bags of gold and a smelly old giant, Jack and the Beans Talk is a cautionary tale about what might happen if you throw things out of the window! Imagine having a few to drink and staggering into the darkness of an eastern European cobbled street, stumbling into a bar where Django Reinhardt and Tom Waits are having an after-hours jam with the locals… Combining their original material with songs by the likes of Jaques Brel, Tom Waits, Leonard Cohen & Eartha Kitt, Moscow Drug Club deliver an intoxicating and intimate musical experience not to be missed! Then we’ll begin… Comedian, broadcast historian and British Comedy Award-winning writer (Miranda, Not Going Out) Paul Kerensa presents this one-man ‘stand-up history’ show that informs, educates but above all entertains about the BBC’s origins. Relive the 1920s with tales, clips and landmark re-enactments: the first BBC broadcast, the first children’s, drama, music and more. Hear of forgotten pioneers, from WW1 DJ Gertrude Donisthorpe to the first BBC children’s character: Susan the blue cat with yellow spots. As a comedian Paul won ITV’s Take the Mike, and regularly broadcasts on BBC Radio 2 Breakfast Show’s Pause for Thought. “A brilliant writer, fantastic communicator, deep thinker, philosopher and extremely decent bloke.” – Chris Evans This project is part-funded by the UK Government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund.

The award-winning Bookshop Band came to life as an artistic collaboration with Mr B’s Emporium of Reading Delights. They write and perform songs inspired by books and have released 13 book-inspired albums collaborating with authors, including Philip Pullman, Robert Macfarlane and Margaret Atwood. No previous knowledge of the books is required as the band guides the audience through the stories behind each song’s inspiration. They have toured extensively around the UK, Europe, Canada and America, and are equally at home in a bookshop or literary festival, an arts centre, in a folk club or on a festival main stage. Their music has received many accolades, including a recent Ivor Novello Nomination. For the last three years The Bookshop Band have been working with Pete Townshend (The Who) on their 14 studio album, due for release in summer 2024.
The Sacred Funk 4tet play ancient, spiritual music that has journeyed from West Africa to the rest of the world. Musicians Lekan Babalola -Percussion, Kate Luxmoore - clarinet and bass clarinet, Reuben Reynolds - guitars and Josh Vadiveloo- Bass, bring their combination of musical experiences and influences to create a vast range of sounds and grooves that will transport you across the African Diaspora, from jazz, funk, reggae, and folk to classical, son, rumba and highlife! 'Sounds of Highlife' explores the sounds of West Africa by reinterpreting songs by High Life musicians such as Ambrose Campbell, E.T. Mensah, and Victor Olaiya. Highlife is a music genre that started in present day Ghana in the 19th Century. It’s mix of African polyrhythms with melodies of western jazz, created a feel-good music that influenced the afrobeat and afrobeats that we hear today.
