An incredible true story of bravery and heroism - ONE LIFE features Sir Nicholas ‘Nicky’ Winton, a young London broker who, in the months leading up to the Second World War, rescued 669 children from the Nazis. Nicky visited Prague in December 1938 and found families who had fled the rise of the Nazis in Germany and Austria, living in desperate conditions with little or no shelter and food, and under threat of Nazi invasion. He immediately realised it was a race against time. How many children could he and the team rescue before the borders closed?

Anthony Hopkins excellent as usual. A very moving film that dealt with the horrors of the situation sensitively. Very poignant in light of current events in Ukraine and Gaza. It so happened that the night we screened the film it was announced that a street in Prague was named after Nicholas Winton that same day.

Anthony Hopkins in superb form as Nicolas Winton, modest and self-effacing, in an uplifting film about an extraordinary man which sent our audience to the warmth of their families home enriched by the determination of his selfless life. We felt humbled.
