Parasite (15)

Director Bong Joon-ho. Comedy/Crime/Drama

This superb blackly comic satirical thriller swept up awards including the Palme d’Or at Cannes and dominated the Oscars, the first Korean film to do so. A downtrodden family, the Kims, eke out a hand-to-mouth existence in a basement apartment. Struggling to earn enough for basic survival, their luck changes when the son, Ki-woo is employed to teach English to the daughter of the wealthy Park family in their suburban home. Slowly and cunningly, the Kims infiltrate every aspect of the Parks’ daily life. But when an interloper threatens their newfound comfort, a battle of class warfare breaks out, with things going first comically, then horribly, wrong. Full of energy, verve and a transgressive visual wit, PARASITE is incredibly watchable but also brims with rage at the inequalities of contemporary capitalism.

Starring Song Kang-ho, Lee Sun-kyun, Cho Yeo-jeong

Flicks Advisor (comments from our film promoters)

Disappointingly small audience for interesting Oscar winner but I think had been seen over the past year. Got us all talking, it pulls the rug from under you!

Excellent Film- Dark, Desperate and bonkers
