A sweet, inventive Richard Curtis-style romantic-comedy crowd-pleaser this deftly balances hearty laughs and heart-warming emotion. Disillusioned, elderly Victor (Auteuil) is given a chance to dive back into the era of his choice. He seeks to recreate the events of the most memorable week of his life, 40 years earlier when he met the great love of his life. A hilarious film that like all of us slows down and turns a little sentimental as it goes on, but there’s no better actor than Daniel Auteuil to make you believe that sentiment is real. Where so many high-concept romantic comedies squander their one big idea, this makes the most of its own to remind us how and why we fall in love in the first place.
