"I may have been the only person in the Audience not to appreciate this film. I found the story very thin. It covered the coercive control that Louis Mayer exercised over her from when she was making The Wizard of Oz, and how she never escaped from pills which is why she became a washed-up star in America but was still big enough in England to land a residency at the Talk of the Town in London. The film showed how obsessive she was and how impossible she was to deal with, but I didn't see why anyone would have any time for her as a friend or wife."

Not an outstanding film, but made remarkable by possibly Zellweger's finest ever performance. The film touches on a lot of topics regarding exploitation in the entertainment industry that prevail even today
