An extraordinary film with detailed images and social content evoking the 1960s. The original imagination of the Mexican director Guillermo del Toro brings this fantasy tale to life. Sally Hawkins plays the strong but vulnerable lead character, Elisa, a mute cleaner at a high-security government laboratory. As the story unfolds Sally Hawkins' outstanding performance gains our sympathy and draws us in. This film has everything, a worthy winner of many awards for its performances, screenplay, direction, visuals, production design, and musical score. Highly recommended.

Despite strong performances this did not attract the majority of our core audience and would probably appeal to a slightly younger group.

An intriguing quirky film, beautifully made and generally enjoyed by the audience.
